Postage and Packaging

Trees

We only send trees within the UK. Different varieties grow at different rates and occasionally we will keep a young tree for an extra year in order to give it more time. Generally however, we send one year old trees that are supported by a cane, and are sent bare rooted in winter or in a paper mache pot throughout the year. If we can source a compostable (potato starch bag) we will enclose the whip in that and then within a long, thin cardboard box 140 x 16 x12cm.  We are trying not to use plastic in our packaging.

Scions

These are cut when the mother tree is dormant. We have had success starting in late December and so our season starts then. We try not to harvest very thin material because such stock is more difficult to graft. Each scion is 20-25cm and averages 6 buds although of course each variety is different. We have calculated out costs on p&p to break even - we send these out by Evri 1-2 day post on a first-come, first-served basis.  We will eventually use a compostable bag when we can find one of the right size! The scion sticks are sealed with a little moist material although most of this should be removed on arrival. The quicker you graft this the better although the scions can then be stored for weeks in the fridge. We will start posting on w/c 08.01.2024.
